Description
Tsunohanzo is a yokai born from an old lacquered washbasin once used by women in the past. The creature is said to be inspired by the tale of Ono no Komachi from the Heian period, particularly the story found in Sōshi‑arai Komachi. In this interpretation, the washbasin’s two handles form horn‑like shapes, giving the appearance of wearing an oni mask. This expressive form symbolizes Komachi’s lingering emotions, creating a striking and dramatic presence. The figure is dressed in carefully crafted layers of junihitoe, resulting in a richly detailed and luxurious piece.

角盥漱（つのはんぞう・つのだらい）は、かつて女性が使っていた漆塗りの洗面具が妖怪化したものとされています。 平安時代の歌人・小野小町の逸話「草紙洗小町」をもとに創作された妖怪で、 洗面具の二本の柄が角のように見え、鬼の面をかぶったような姿が小町の執心を象徴しているといわれます。 本作では、その象徴的な造形を丁寧に表現し、十二単を重ねた豪華な装いで仕上げています。 自信を持ってお届けできる作品です。
