Description
With wild, flowing hair and an open chest that almost looks like she’s trying to tempt someone, this yokai gives off a strange and eerie presence. But on closer look, her face is quite hideous, and her neck is unnaturally long. Given that her name contains the word nikurashii (meaning “spiteful” or “hateful”), it’s possible she became a yokai out of deep resentment or a lingering grudge. To me, though, her expression doesn’t seem hateful at all—it looks more like a troubled or sorrowful face.

長い髪を振り乱し、はだけた胸元がまるで誘惑しているような姿をしたこの妖怪は、どこか奇妙で不気味な雰囲気を漂わせています。しかしよく見ると顔立ちはかなり醜く、首も異様に長く伸びています。「憎らしい」という字が名前に付けられていることから、何かに対する深い怨念や恨みを抱いて妖怪になったのかもしれません。ですが、私には彼女の表情は憎しみよりも、困ったような、悲しげな顔に見えました。
