This Nekomata is based on the depiction by Takayuki Sawaki in the Hyakkai Zukan (Illustrated Compendium of a Hundred Strange Creatures). In the illustration, the cat yokai plays a shamisen, wearing a distinctive bob‑style haircut that gives it a gentle and charming presence. This interpretation follows that traditional imagery, capturing the calm and slightly whimsical nature of the fork‑tailed cat spirit.
