Description
The name Sunamura is said to come from a region famous for pumpkins, and Utagawa Yoshikazu likely combined this local specialty with kaidan storytelling to create this original yokai. Vegetable‑based yokai are rare, and the surreal appearance of this character made it an appealing subject to recreate. The entire body is made from latex, using acrylic‑paint‑mixed latex sheets twisted into thin cords and wrapped one by one to form the texture. Leaves and flowers are also made from latex sheets, cut into shape and attached to the vine.

砂村という地名はカボチャの名産地であったことから、 怪談話と掛け合わせて歌川芳員が創作したオリジナル妖怪だと考えられています。 野菜の妖怪はあまり見かけませんが、そのシュールな容姿に惹かれ再現しました。
全身ラテックスで、ボディは アクリルペイントを混ぜたラテックスシートを細くよって、 一本一本丁寧に巻き付けて仕上げています。 葉や花も同じくラテックスシートを形に切り、ツタに貼り付けています。
