Description
Bunbuku Chagama is a legendary kettle spirit. While the later folktale depicts a tanuki performing tightrope tricks, the older Bunbuku Chagama legend tells of a tanuki who transformed into a monk named Moritsuru and used a magical kettle that never ran dry to serve and comfort people. This piece recreates a scene from an illustration by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, capturing the tanuki’s gentle, melancholic expression.

説明
分福茶釜は日本の昔話に登場する付喪神です。 綱渡りをする茶釜のタヌキとして知られる話は後世の創作で、それ以前の文福茶釜伝説では、タヌキが守鶴という僧に化け、いくら汲んでもなくならない茶釜で人々をもてなしたと伝えられています。 この作品は月岡芳年が描いたそのワンシーンを再現したもので、哀愁のあるタヌキの表情を丁寧に造形しています。
