Description
Yarikecho is a yokai based on keyari, a ceremonial spear decorated with animal hair at the tip. While some depictions show the creature holding a wooden mallet, this version carries a sword instead. Its sharp eyes and white, tuft‑like head contrast vividly with its bright green body, giving it a striking and memorable silhouette. Although slightly slimmer than the original illustration, it remains one of the artist’s favorite pieces.

槍毛長は、槍の先端に動物の毛などを飾り付けた毛槍が妖怪化したものです。 他の妖怪画では木槌を持つ槍毛長も見られますが、この作品では木槌ではなく剣を持っています。 鋭い目と毛槍の毛を模した白い頭、そして鮮やかな緑色の体が対照的で、非常に個性的な造形です。 原画よりやや華奢になりましたが、お気に入りの作品のひとつです。
